That's great advice, but when you need your text to pop, make it big-really big! Use type that's over 100 points or even larger, depending on your typeface. Guy Kawasaki's famous 10/20/30 rule of presentation design tells us not to use any text that's smaller than 30 points. Concise headers, appropriate use of colors, meaningful images, etc. Give people something that catches their attention. We view presentations and online training in the same way. Ever watched a person on an airplane as they "read" a magazine? They flip through it quickly until something grabs their attention such as colors, images, headlines, etc. Tip #2: Catch the audiences’ attention by doing this They always have a nice graphic that explains a concept without me actually reading an article. I love the images on the bottom of the front page of USA Today. Rather an image that explains a concept, such as an infographic. The best image is not a "gratuitous", pretty picture.
